The annual Lycoming County Life Chain will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:30-3:30 PM on the "Golden Strip” (East Third Street) in Williamsport. This is a peaceful, prayerful and visible witness of Christ's love. Our mission is to pray and stand in silence against abortion—and this deserves a solemn witness.
Our hope and prayer is that in 2026 your church will join us and that more members of already participating churches will also stand against the taking of innocent human life. Whether your church has participated every year, once in awhile, or not at all, we invite you to stand with us. Please encourage and remind one another to gather with us in prayer for one hour on Sunday, October 4 from 2:30-3:30 PM.
| Pastors are the key to a successful Life Chain. |
If your church has participated in the past, you know the routine and, if not, call the contact number below or show up that day to one of the Sign Distribution Stations listed below. There is plenty of room along the Golden Strip for all of us as long as you don’t mind filling in where there is no one already standing. If your church would like to stand as a group in front of a particular destination, by all means, get there and secure it. We will no longer be assigning churches to certain destinations along East Third Street. In the past, the goal was to have a Life Chain that extended the entire length of East Third Street by asking each church/participant to stand 6 feet apart from the person next to you except for those with young children. However, that goal has rarely been achieved and many gaps exist in the Life Chain along East Third Street. We beg, please be kind and do not argue over where you stand, even if you have stood there most or all of the years you have participated. We must be diligent in keeping in mind the reason we are there: “Abortion Kills Children” and be prayerful, silent, and peaceful—the other reason you are encouraged to stand 6 feet apart from the person next to you.
Life Chain volunteers will set-up four Sign Distribution Stations along the Golden Strip where you can pick up and drop off Life Chain signs. Life Chain signs will be available at 2:00 PM at any of the four Stations as follows: First Citizens Community Bank (FCCB), 1732 East Third Street; Real Estate Excel, 1737 East Third Street; the former Rite Aid Building, 1913 East Third Street; and aside of Texas Roadhouse, 1940 East Third Street. ONLY Life Chain signs issued from these Stations may be used. Each participant is requested to read the “Code of Conduct” printed on the back side of each sign. The $1.00 requested donation per sign is used to to help defray the cost of expenses but is not obligatory. Please take care of your sign and return it to the Station at 3:30 PM.
Since 1992, believers have gathered on East Third Street in Williamsport on the first Sunday of October to prayerfully stand for Life in this peaceful public witness! Over the years, we have gathered with as many as 2,000 participants in one year and as few as 400 in another. But Matthew 18:19-20 reminds us: “Again, [amen,] I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Bring your whole family. Rain or shine! Water, lawn chairs, umbrellas and strollers are welcome. Thank you for standing with us for Life.
